A decade ago, television viewing is limited to a few pre-defined channels that are telecasted with the help of meters and meters of cables. But, a revolution occurred when DTH service was introduced in India. It is a fact to wonder how quickly the service found its place on top of the TVs of thousands of people across the country. Lowered time difference between source and telecast, less wires, one-time setup, easy transfer of services during address change, etc. are some of the factors that made DTH to quickly reserve its place in the hearts of television viewers across the country. This was the case a few years ago, whereas the substantial development of DTH recently is backed by some of the newest features available with various service providers.
High Definition Channels
This was one of the very first things that are introduced first on DTH Dish services. The increased audio and video quality of channels has led the people to go through theatre like experiences when they watch their favorite shows or movies in HD channels. Recently, ultra definition channels with even more quality of audio and video are being planned to be rolled out.
Shows on Demand
No one would want to miss an advertisement free movie watching experience. But, when watching a movie or a concert in a channel, it is obvious for anyone to see more ads than the actual program. On demand shows and movies can be availed by the customers with a DTH dish, and spending weekends with a bunch of friends, watching a favorite movie ad-free has become a reality.
It is a most common experience to get a phone call when an interesting scene is being telecasted. But, what if the program can be paused live and can be played again from where it was paused? Several DTH services have made it possible by offering a pause/play feature that enable people to pause and play programs that are live.
Service providers might have thought about adding a twist to the Play/pause feature, and this is when the recording function arrived. Shows, movies, series, etc can be recorded online either live, or by schedule, and the same could be stored in either an online storage of the service provider, or a compatible hard disk that comes with the DTH dish’s set top box. This enabled the viewers to enjoy the programs that are telecasted when they are busy, at a later point of time.
Though the DTH service has some issues like disruption of service in bad weather, possibilities of sudden technical issues, etc. the growth of DTH services in the last few years where phenomenal. Though the initial growth of such services can be credited to digitalization of channels, only factors like the above are to be credited for their recent development.
